A Comparative Study of the Factors Influencing Life Satisfaction between Urban and Rural Elderly

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to compare and to examine the factors related to life satisfaction between urban and rural elderly. In order to accomplish the study aims, we utilized the data from Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) and examined the factors related to life satisfaction differentiated between urban and rural elderly using multiple group structual equation modeling The results of the study are as follows. First, the multiple group analysis indicated that the factors related to life satisfaction differentiated between urban and rural elderly in path coefficient. Second, subjective health condition, the degrees of depression, duration of labor, social activities, contact with children were significantly related to life satisfaction in urban elderly. In rural elderly, subjective health condition, the degrees of depression, labor, social activities, were significantly related to life satisfaction. Third, it was proved that path coefficient was tested significantly and the degrees of depression, duration of labor were significantly in urban elderly than rural elderly Finally, the implications of research and practice of this study were discussed.
